Planetizen
AI-generated visual story exploring the idea of the planetizen ('planet citizen'). Based on François Taddei's book Et si nous.
Short film · Stable Diffusion × Editing
Concept
Inspired by a new chapter from François Taddei’s book Et si nous ?, Ariana presents a moving conversation between a mother and daughter that introduces the figure of the “planetizen”: a planetary citizen able to think and act beyond national borders.
What if we awakened the planetizen within us? What could we achieve?
Creative Approach
Using the open-source AI tool Stable Diffusion, each scene was transformed into a generative image. Editing turns the resulting illustrations into an immersive visual experience in which AI aesthetics meet emotional storytelling.
The 24-Hour Challenge
The entire project was completed in 24 hours in April 2023, from AI image generation to the final edit. This sprint format encouraged spontaneity and explored the narrative possibilities of generative AI within a strict time constraint.
Intent
More than a story, the film is an invitation to reflect and act. It explores how we might collectively become planetizens: people capable of moving beyond national self-interest and thinking at a planetary scale.
