Learning Planet Festival
A global hybrid-event platform for UNESCO and the Learning Planet Institute. A collaboration hub for educators, researchers and changemakers in education.
Mission
The Learning Planet Festival is an annual global event organised by UNESCO and the Learning Planet Institute. The platform enables partners around the world to create, curate and host large-scale hybrid events, connecting educators, young people, researchers and changemakers around the future of education.
Technical Challenges
Global scale: Managing multilingual content, synchronising time zones and designing an architecture capable of handling major traffic peaks throughout the festival.
Hybrid delivery: Combining physical and virtual events through livestreaming, replays and integrations with third-party services including Zoom, YouTube and Matomo.
Distributed governance: Creating a moderation system that allows partners to manage their own events while preserving overall editorial coherence.
Role & Responsibilities
As Creative Tech Director, I led the production of the platform end to end: developing the website, defining the product roadmap, organising the editorial work, creating the AI-generated poster, and optimising the multi-profile user experience (participants, organisers and moderators).
Impact
Since its launch, the platform has supported more than 2,000 events and engaged over 300,000 visitors and participants from 170 countries. It has become a lasting hub for international collaboration, helping education stakeholders connect and share innovative practices worldwide.
